Sequim’s Saturday Farmer’s Market has a selection of many of the sorts of things you’d expect. Local purveyor Nash’s Farm has a front and center presence with fresh produce. And there’s honey, interesting condiments, and, of course, lavender.
Crafts people are well represented. This person makes interesting variations on bird houses: gnome dwellings. Apparently the designer has enough experience with these creatures that s/he issues warnings.
And there are things at the market I can’t say I’ve seen before, such as chainmaille. Is this yet another fashion trend I’ve missed?
These are dog leashes. They are knit and then felted. In addition to being soft they are very strong. They’re on the wish lists of all the stylin’ dogs.
hahahahaha
Love the gnome sign. Gotta get me one for my gnome guard at the garden.
So… the real question is, what did you bring home? 😉
There is an artisan up here in a town two hour’s drive from my home- she works in chainmail and has a business she calls Thor’s Trinkets.
What an eclectic mixture of food and wares. . .love it. I would like to have the Gnomes sign but would not be brave enough to hang it anywhere!
Farmers’ Markets are always fun. We have a huge one in Bellingham – they even built a very large building – and still it doesn’t hold nearly all the vendors who want to display. They spill out and down several streets and on Wednesdays there is a small Farmers’ Market in Fairhaven – which is my favorite – easier to get around in and not the crowds. The same farmers are not there each week as there are so many requests for space that you have to rotate and take turns. We’ve also been to the Farmers’ Market on San Juan Island – we went to the island for an anniversary trip and really enjoyed the more casual market atmosphere there – several of the farmers bring their produce and flowers to the market in water taxis – it is a great experience.
Chainmail? Uhhh, is there something going on in the PNW that I don’t know about?
