Nostalgia

Clouds

I titled this post “Nostalgia” because I’m missing this kind of sky: clear and blue. The winds yesterday brought Sequim grey skies heavy with smoke from a fire on the western slopes of the Olympic Mountains. The rain forest where it’s burning – wilderness – is anything but rainy right now. Humidity was reported at 21% which is bone dry, relatively speaking. The fire has been burning for a while now. Though we’ve had periods of smoke, yesterday was the worst so far. Tops of the mountains were obscured by day’s end.

Correction: The Peninsula Daily News today reports that our smoke is drifting south to us from Vancouver Island, B.C.

  1. We had a BIG storm last night. But it cooled things off here (at least for today).
It’s hard to live with the heat when you don’t have air conditioning and all the other “amenities” that you get used to in N. America. 🙂
Love your nostalgic sky, all the same!

  2. I have been reading that your area is tinder-dry. I hope you get some good, soaking rain sometime soon.

  3. Puffy little cotton balls floating the sky. Re your comment about seniors and care: I just realized how many of my poems speak to that issue! Must be a personal thing! 🙂

  4. OH so sad about the fires – we have several over here by Bellingham too – on the other side of Lake Whatcom so far. We are on the side without fires though there were some small ones that were contained quickly. Our skies are also smokey – bright orange sky. I’ll be glad when fires are gone and skies are blue again. At least it is cooling down and they are forecasting some rain showers for the weekend – perhaps that will help.

  5. Canadian wildfires are taking a toll on Minnesota’s air quality. This blue sky with puffy clouds is a much better scene. Hope it stays permanent for you.
