It’s Independence Day in the U.S. It’s traditionally a time for flag-flying, barbecues, and fireworks.
In thinking about this holiday I particularly like this quote from American humorist Erma Brombeck:
“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.”
Amen! Happy 4th to my fellow patriots.
Enjoy the day.
Happy fourth!!!!
Will you be blowing up fireworks and eating barbecue today?
And now I’m totally confused. I can’t find the reference to Lee Cox nor can I find a license plate and no, I don’t think you have crepre myrtles up thataway ’cause they are a southern thing! 🙂
Lee Cox is an English soccer player.

Happy 4th! BANG! KABOOM!

Great quote! Hope you had a wonderful day!
Love that first photo. I almost used a very similar one. And, the Brombeck quote is spot on.
