We don’t exactly have a lot of all purpose book stores here in Sequim. Mind you there are places to buy new and used books. But I was pretty taken with Eureka Books in Eureka, California’s “Old Town.” Bright and high-ceilinged, it was a very satisfying place to browse.
I could have come away with quite a few volumes but I satisfied myself with one book that I’d been casually looking for over the last two years, “Karsh,” a book of stunning photographs by Yousuf Karsh, an outrageously good portraitist.
It looks bigger inside. Did you buy something from the OMG/LOL section?
What a beautiful little/big store! And your book selection was excellent. I’ll have a book of poetry out in a few weeks…more later!
Oh, great, Kay! Another photographer to Google!
I just googled Karsh; are you referring to his book of portraits of famous people? These are spectacular black and white portraits; so many are outstanding, and love many esp Hemingway’s!!
I find it very hard to resist these bookshops… and to leave them!
Very nice inside! It has the type of atmosphere that would make me want to purchase a book or two.
Wonderful store – I’m enjoying your visit to our former area – we loved the book stores in Eureka and Arcata. Our favorite in Arcata is the Tin Can Mailman – several floors of every sort of book you could wish for. Loved the name of it too.
This is a very cool bookstore, Kay. The Hartford Courant had a feature today about ten bookstores in Connecticut specializing in used books. The article went into my “blog ideas” file.
A beautiful space, Kay. Karsh came across my path here on our Doors Open weekend- he was a member of a private club here, and one of the rooms in the place is named after him and filled with a number of his portraits.
