I posted a shot of this tree last January. I see it often and want to catch it throughout the year. Spring progressed quickly this year and was punctuated with rain. I nearly missed catching this tree showing its early springtime foliage. Here it is. This is a willow. I think it may be a Sitka willow (Salix sitchensis) but I need to look at it more closely with a tree guide in hand.

Whatever you call it, the tree is quite impressive and spring has been good to it!
Thanks for the info. I was never a Star Wars or Star Trek fan. Those are two different things, right?
Have a great Memorial Day celebration!
We’re in full-throtle spring in the East. That building and the sun lighting it add to the ambiance here.
So now we have ‘that old tree’ in Sweden and ‘that old tree’ in WA! It’s beautiful!
It looks nicely green!
I especially like when trees are not quite filled out and you can still see the structure. This is not what I expect a willow to look like, but then I’m only familiar with weeping willows!
Wow – nice tree. I had never heard of the Sitka Willow – even though I grew up in Sitka, Alaska. And to think, they grow all around us. Thanks for sharing!!!
T love the idea of following a tree throughout the year!
It is a stately tree, well worth recording in the different seasons.
