Sometimes it feels like winter strips everything bare. Truth is, it leaves bits and pieces for critters. Starlings and seagulls have found meals lately in our lawn, as have the groups of deer that graze. And many trees and bushes have leftovers once the leaves are gone.

It is wonderful how nature helps to take care of its own. Our crabapple tree keeps its berries for the winter birds.
