A fire last November at the Blue Mountain Recycling Center shut down operations. A temporary office was parked where vehicles previously backed up to offload trash and recycling operations were only available on Saturdays. Update: The transfer station will resume it normal schedule on Saturday, May 24, 2014. It will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The recycling operations during the reduced hours were much the same as before the closure, including the center bin for cardboard.
Recycling is big business. Everyone is doing it. Some do it better than others.
Yeah! Though we enjoyed our trips to the Port Angeles transfer station, the Blue Mountain station is much closer and also a pleasant drive. Love to recycle!
These places are wonderful. Wonder why it took so long for some communities to get into recycling? We’ve got several centers in different areas of Ocala. But if you’re going to dump more than 5 gallons of old paint, or gasoline, etc., you’ve got to drive over to east Ocala to the landfill where they have the capability to handle that kind of material.
Recycling is good for the earth! I watched a neighborhood home burn to the ground in the middle of the night several years ago. It is a frightening sight and scared me half to death. Very cautious now around flames of any kind!
We sorely miss this place! So handy when we had extra bags to get rid of. Fast and easy.
