This windmill dots the landscape almost like a giant daisy. Aside from wind farms filled with turbines that generate energy, the old fashioned windmill like the one above seems much less common these days. At one time in the U.S. the power of the wind generated energy to pump water and windmills were not uncommon on farms or ranches.

My neighbor has a windmill like this – well, smaller, and it’s just for decoration. But I remember driving through Texas and Oklahoma years ago and these were ubiquitous.
Ah, yes, windmills. I believe the correct name for them is Bird Cuisinart.
What a lovely view.
These are far more attractive than the new wind turbines, which, incidentally, are killing many eagles in the Minnesota area. Driving cross country, we’ve seen ten-twenty times more turbines than windmills.
