I imagine there are lots of places these days where there’ll have to be a whole lot of thawing before ladders come out and the holiday lights get taken down. It was chilly the day I took this shot, but I’m well aware that a sweatshirt hoodie and lack of snow may look positively balmy about now. Stay warm you in the subzero zone!

Yes it does look balmy. It’s -21°C or -6°F here.
A pleasure to decorate under these circumstances! I have red holiday balls hanging from my front yard crabapple tree. Decided they’re NOT coming down now and will have to stay there ’til we return form New Mexico.
I would not want to have to take down decorations in bitter, cold weather. If fact, I’d leave them there all year. I had a friend in Houston who left his lights up until July. I teased him unmercifully about it. He had no excuse. It was warm in Houston! 🙂
And yes, you’re very perceptive. It was a Dr. Seuss birthday party as you’ll see from the subsequent post. :))
I love our moderate weather – though we didn’t decorate outdoors this year except to set up the vintage light up Santa and snowman.
my lights will be staying up a bit longer. I think the brightness in the dark chill adds a tiny bit of cheeriness. I like to do my part.
Splitting my time between two states means that I don’t decorate as fully in either place any more. But, I bought a big artificial tree for Naples in the after-Christmas sales, so next year, watch out!
The snake was a trompe l’oeil painting.
feels like spring here!
