I loved the mood this morning in February. The frost, the fog, and the horse quietly grazing reminded me that winter’s crisp, stark edges can be softened.

Glancing back at 2012: The rodeo
Happy new year! Here we are in 2013 and 2012 is now a memory. That was quick!
I’m going to take a look back at 2012 for a few days and post some of my favorites in no particular order.
This is a shot from the Clallam County Rodeo last summer. The fellow in the middle was finishing his ride on the bucking bronco and looked like he was sharing a laugh with the two cowboys who were helping him off his mount. I love the lines and power of the horses and the action of the shot.
Gratitude
A friend of mine posted a good idea on Facebook last summer: keep a “gratitude jar.” Every time you think of something that you’re grateful for, write it down and put it into the jar. At the end of the year go through the jar and review all the things you were thankful for. Here’s my 2012 gratitude jar, just before I added one last thing: my gratitude for this blog – and you, Blog Follower!
Happy New Year! What are you grateful for?
