Here’s one last shot from my visit with the trumpeter swans last week. There were younger swans mixed in with the flock; here’s one for comparison.

Views of Sequim, the Olympic Peninsula. . .and beyond
Up until to about ten years ago the trumpeter swan had disappeared from my area. The local conservation authority brought them back by placing their eggs in the nest of the mute swan. Now they are common sight here.
This is a super photo…looks like their necks are entwined or soon will be. Love the dark and white, too.
Isn’t it interesting how juvenile wildlife species tend to be brown/gray or a color that blends in well with the scenery to protect them? After seeing your fine photos, I’m wondering if there are any swans in this area.
