In addition to the now standard U.S. “Black Friday” sales – the day after our Thanksgiving that launches big retail sales and holiday buying – it’s also holiday bazaar season on the Olympic Peninsula. Churches, service organizations, and even the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, above, give crafters and vendors an opportunity to sell their wares. There are dozens of these events here in November and December.
A side note: Thank you to all for your get well wishes. I prefer to keep this blog focused on photos of the Olympic Peninsula I love but my recent illness has made it hard to be taking daily photos. I hope to be back on my feet soon but I’m navigating a new, unknown, and challenging landscape.
Here too, a craft fair every week-end it seems, though the weather has been so bad I haven’t been out much taking photos. But you do what you have to do, and if that means photos only irregularly, so be it.
Kay, Take your time, recover and relax during the process. We’ll wait patiently for your photographic return. Re. your photo: I hunker down on Black Friday with absolutely no desire to join the crowds. After a shower, I intend to go to our local cafe for a quiet little cup of java. Have a good week-end.
It’s wonderful to see this post. You’ve been in my thoughts and we’re wishing you all the best. Love these “fairs.” Post any photos you want…take a picture of a coffee cup, a sofa, a painting…or nothing at all. Do whatever is the best for you!
Sometimes you can find cool stuff at bazaars…
I am ashamed that I was feeling sorry for myself having caught some sort of a stomach bug. Other’s problems far outweight mine. Take time to rest plenty and post a photo only when you feel up to it. No shopping for me! But if I do venture out it will be to shop at a small local business. Thinking of you Kay.
