Closed

The historic 3 Crabs Restaurant has closed. The last meals were served on August 25th and a final sale of equipment and furnishings was last weekend. The restaurant signs are down and the building is quickly emptying as an era ends.

The restaurant opened in 1958 and became a local landmark, the go-to spot for seafood or a good bowl of chowder. The site, nearly 52 acres of land and tideland, has been sold to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The building and its septic system will be removed and shoreline access will be restored and improved.

  1. Well, this makes me sad and glad at the same time. Always hate to lose such a landmark, especially one that makes good food, but I’m glad that the land is going to be restored and put to good use!

  2. The restaurant had definitely seen better days. It had been panned in online reviews in recent years. I wandered through during the sale last weekend and the interior was in need of deep cleaning and renovations. I suppose a new generation that could have taken the helm never came forward.

  3. What a sad story. Places like this have something that the chains just can’t match. Too bad the owners seem to have lost their way in recent years.

  4. Ah… seems a bit like our current community building, with its prior history as a restaurant. There are some saying the building should be razed and the lot turned into a park… but who would be able to use the park, since there’s no public parking nearby?
