The Sequim Rotary recently hosted its 43rd annual Salmon Bake and Barbeque. The wild Alaska salmon is baked in an open pit over alder. If you like salmon it’s a real treat and they make sure no one leaves hungry. Don’t care for salmon? There are also pulled pork sandwiches. The Rotary hosts the event to raise funds to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club as well as scholarships, a free health clinic, and a variety of other charitable projects.

Good food for a good cause! Fascinating! I’d sure like to try this out next year. Hope I can time my trip to Sequim next year.
When I think of Salmon, I think of BONES!!! But I will generously let someone else have my share!
It’s a great organization. I really appreciate all they do for our community.
Very interesting way it is cooked. Perhaps we’ll get an opportunity to participate in this event another time.
Ginny, the cooking technique is similar to the way Native Americans cook it and it’s delicious. Larry, there are lots of interesting things that happen during the summer here — this one’s a nice community event, very worthwhile. The Lions also had a crab feed (for the first time) on the same day. Patricia, Jeremiah’s Bar-b-que made the pulled pork sandwiches and their food is great, too.
