This little bird kept hanging around and watching us while we were watching the eagles nest across the road. What kind of bird is it?

It’s a Charadrius vociferus 🙂
Larry, I thought you were messing with me until I looked it up 😉
Larry, is it a Killdeer?? I always thought they were?
It’s beautiful!
One day last year while I was at work, a fledgling Killdeer knocked itself out flying against a window. We located Mom (or was it Dad?), and I brought Baby closer to her, and further away from the office building and road. Mom promptly developed a broken wing and tried to lure us away. We cooperated, but watched from far off. It was a very happy reunion.
Your commentThey love playing under overhead sprinklers. I used to have a small flock that showed up whenever ours were turned on. They are quite vocal as well and enjoyable to watch.
I looked it up, too. Charadrius vociferus is the Latin name for the Killdeer. And I have also seen the broken wing behavior Kibz mentions. I like hearing their call.
