We took the tree down yesterday and drove it over to Lazy J Tree Farm. This was the longest we’d ever kept the tree up. It was cheerful and this time of year we can use whatever cheer we can get. My husband called me earlier today and said that he heard on that radio that this is the most depressing day of the year (third Monday in January).
I felt kind of bad seeing it lying there with all the other discarded ones. But it will be turned into compost and start the cycle again.
Hang in there! Better days are on the horizon!
I felt the same way about taking down all our outside Christmas lights. It was so bright and cheerful! It makes me want to drape white bulbs around and just leave them year-round. (husband says no) I also have some beautiful Grape lights from Costco I have never used…these would be cheerful hanging in our trees out back..(husband says maybe) NUTS. I wish they would leave the lights in the trees around 5th avenue , they are so lovely!
nice!
but arent you glad about the regained space you have in your house? thats how i always felt when the tree was gone again. yes, it was very nice when it was there, but cleaning it all up, and suddenly the place looks so much bigger!
Cat, you are so correct on that! The Living Room becomes huge again!
We Still have our two trees up. Both are living trees, one little, the other big, and since we had a sudden cold snap, we are waiting for the temps to get a little milder at night before putting them back outside. But I also love having the trees up to Epiphany, or even a little longer. It’s so much more peaceful, and there’s more time to just bask in the beauty of all the lights. There also seems to be a deeper feeling of the meaning of Christmas now that the holiday push has ended.
