I love Rube Goldberg contraptions. While technically not a Rube Goldberg, this can crusher came close. Notice the nice rosette hanging in the front.

Fair Animals
Going to The Fair
Finally I made it to the fair! I had guests for the weekend, and as much as I enjoy their company…I was ready for them to leave so I could hot foot it over and check it out. I didn’t go in the carnival…but it did provide me with a photo opp. I saw (click on thumbnails) tractors, things for sale, and lots of ribbons. Tomorrow I will share some of the animals.
On Three Crabs Road
There is a garden in front of Groveland Cottage where a smiling Budda resides. When I stopped to take his picture, I happened to notice something odd attatched to his tummy. On closer examination, I found the object to be a snail. (click on thumbnail)
That Time of Year, part 2
I don’t know why, but it surprised me when I drove by the local high school practice field…and there they were! No pads, yet, but the Sequim High School Wolves are already practicing for the upcoming football season. It shouldn’t have…summer school is finishing for me next week and the fall semester will be starting in a very short time for the local school district. Fortunately the college gets a month break…and I need it. Now I am looking forward to the upcoming soccer season. I love watching my grandchildren play….and if they should ever decide they want to play this game that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me…I’ll bet I learn the rules in a big hurry.
One of Sequim’s Claim to Fame
This plaque is located at Carrie Blake Park. Amazingly, there are folks who have lived here for quite awhile but are not aware of Mr. Dryke’s achievements. There is a “Dryke” road in the Solmar area, but I think it is named for the family.
